Hitting the Street to Share Our Mission
"At each event we get to talk to so many wonderful people of all ages and from all walks. We don't just get to tell our story but the story of so many of our Chester County neighbors. Not everyone realizes that you don't have to watch the news to witness poverty...it's here in our own backyard.", says Denise Antonelli, Board President. "These street events give us an opportunity to be a voice for those in need." To create some interaction, the ACT in Faith tent display allows people who donate a dolar to select a personal care or household item (toilet paper, shampoo, trash bags, etc) and physically load it to the an empty cupboard shelf. "When people learn that many of our neighbors struggle to afford even the most basic of items that are often taken for granted, we end up creating a "teachable moment" for both the parents and their children. Instead of tossing a dollar in the jar and strolling by, they have a conversation with their children to explain what that dollar will be used for. It's less about the dollar than it is about the interaction and the opportunity to really connect with people."
ACT in Faith would like to thank West Chester Parks And Recreation for their tirelss efforts in coordinating these event!
